We took the decision early last week to cancel all classes and workshops until further notice and have agreed to pay in full all freelancers with whom we had agreements. We have requested digital creative contributions from these artist such as a piece of writing for our blog, or video etc if their circumstances allow, to enable a small offer to connect with those dance artists who might have come to class, or had already booked on a workshop. We will share any content from these artists on our blog and social media.
There are an overwhelming amount of wonderful online classes on offer to keep you moving and hopefully connected in what space you might have at home. Megan Pritchard, Marketing Campaigns Manager at NDCWales has collated some of those here.
The Groundwork Team will offer online surgeries and put what time resources we have into staying connected and supportive of the sector at this difficult time. A lot of information on self employment advice and financial support for freelance artists has been shared online by a fantastic community of performers and makers in Wales over the last week. Groundwork will gather and share advice, opportunities and resources through our blog pages and link through our social media channels. In the meantime, please do get in touch via email if you are looking for advice and keep an eye on our blog posts for information updates from the arts and dance organisations around us.
ACW have now released a statement which says “For the next three months we will therefore not be accepting new applications to our funding programmes”. Updated advice from Arts Council Wales can be found here, as well as news and opportunities.
