Gwyn Emberton is a Welsh choreographer, movement director, producer and he also still tries to hoof around a bit! His company Gwyn Emberton Dance has produced several national touring works including Raft and Shadow of a Quiet Society. Gwyn’s work has been performed across the UK, Europe and the Middle East, and has been presented at Edinburgh Festival, as part of Wales in Edinburgh (Arts Council of Wales) and at British Dance Edition. Gwyn has also choreographed for theatre, TV and music videos.
Gwyn is honoured to be the man in the mix with Deborah Light, and Eddie Ladd, as one third of the collaborative collective Light, Ladd and Emberton, which is produced by Laura Drane. Their award-winning and critically acclaimed work Caitlin has been performed widely across Wales, at Edinburgh Festival and Battersea Arts Centre, as part of A Nation’s Theatre festival 2016.
As a regular collaborator with ilDance, from Sweden, on iCoDaCo, a biennial international contemporary dance collective, he co-creates, produces and tours collaborative work, as an independent dance artist in Europe and beyond.
Gwyn has been a dancer since 1999, and performed with some of the most notable choreographers working today, such as Akram Khan, Matthew Bourne in the UK and Inbal Pinto in Israel.
As his bones tire, Gwyn has begun looking for more sedentary work, and as such recently began producing, mentoring and supporting other dance artists in the making of own work. He will be in Gdansk, Krakow, Hungary, Hong Kong and Stockholm this year offering his support.
