Groundwork are delighted to offer three paid residencies to dance/movement artists based in Wales, to be completed in November.
The residency can take many forms; we want it to be shaped by you and your current artistic enquiries. It does not need to be product driven, but can be if that is relevant to you. It is a chance for each artist to develop and explore their practice and to be supported in doing so. We ask that each artist consider how they might share their residency with the wider community taking into account current restrictions (i.e. writing, video, live online screening / sharing…?)
Chapter has now reopened and we are able to offer space there November 16th – 22nd. However, you may not be based in Cardiff or you may prefer to work from home or elsewhere, and we are open to applications to do so.
Each artist will receive £550 (equivalent of 1 week fee) and allocated £150 to a mentor of your choice (does not have to be based in Wales). If you would like support in contacting and engaging this mentor, or suggestions for who an appropriate mentor might be, please let us know.
The projects must be completed by early December and Groundwork will facilitate a sharing/discussion event then. Within that time frame the work can be structured any way that suits you (unless you want to use the studio space in which case the dates are 16th-22nd November). We ask that you consider and propose a timeline that is realistic and supportive to your current needs and situation.
How to apply
Please send us a link to a video of your work/you moving.
Please tell us about your project either on one side of A4 or as a video/audio recording, using the following questions as a guide (You need not answer all of them, choose what feels most relevant).
– What is your creative idea / area of exploration?
– How will this project deepen or develop your practice?
– Who would you like to work with as a mentor and why?
– How do you propose to share your work?
3. Please tell us whether or not you would like to work at Chapter 16th – 22nd November if possible
