LABORATORI dates: 24th – 28th June & 1st – 5th July

Application deadline: May 13th

This year NDCWales will be hosting a new Laboratori programme that brings together artists from the company and from the independent dance sector in Wales to test new choreographic ideas and ways of working.

The Laboratori will offer these participants mentorship and stimulus to evolve and extend their usual ways of working.

NDCWales are also offering five places for dancers to participate in either week free of charge.

Dates and mentors for the Laboratori will be: Week one: 24 – 28th June Lea Anderson (founder of iconic dance groups, The Cholmondeleys and of The Featherstonehaughs) Week two: 1- 5th July Éric Minh Cuong Castaing (Artistic Director of Shonen, a French company that works with dance, new technology and a diversity of performers).

Groundwork Pro are providing four one-week bursaries of £250 for Wales-based dance artists to attend the Laboratori, two on week one and two on week two. The opportunity is aimed at dance artists with an existing choreographic practice who are open to interrogating their practice and exploring new formats and new contexts for their work.

To be awarded the bursary you must be able to demonstrate an existing choreographic practice (open to emerging and/or established makers), be based in Wales or able to demonstrate a strong connection to Wales, and be open to interrogating your practice and exploring new formats and new contexts for your work. To apply answer the following questions on no more than two sides of A4 and email to groundworkprocardiff@gmail.com 1. Describe your practice and send a link to a previous work 2. Which week would you like to apply for? (You can apply for both) Please give some detail about your interest in that week and the relevant choreographer who is mentoring. 3. How would attending the Laboratori benefit your creative development?  Application deadline: May 13th

NDCWales are inviting Independent dance artists to attend as movers. This is open to people who’ve completed professional training and who have experience of participating in a variety of choreographic processes.  Up to five places for movers are available each week.  To sign up, please email info@ndcwales.co.uk with a brief outline of your dance experience.

If you want to attend as a mover and if you incur costs that would be a barrier to participation you can apply to Groundwork’s access fund.
