Live Workshop (8th Sept) & pre-recorded Audio Practice (released 22nd Sept) with Simon Whitehead

Live Physical Practice Workshop: Tuesday 8 September 2020 – 11.30am – 12.30pm

Simon invites exploration of scores and frameworks for working both in situ and remotely with others – ‘We will prepare ourselves to work and relate to our locales and to collaborate within a fold of places, atmospheres, materials and other beings. In our work together we will consider how our moving is always a way of going home…’

To take part – You will need a WIFI connection, Zoom, a blanket, notebook/journal, pen/cil, and access to outdoors, if possible.

Optional extra – Drop in half an hour before at 11am, or for half an hour after the workshop to say hello, catch up, and ask questions with Groundwork and Articulture.

Booking – Email in advance.

We warmly welcome people from all backgrounds, cultures and abilities including Black, Asian and minority ethnic/POC, refugee, D/deaf, disabled, neurodivergent, working class and/or LGBTQI+ to this space. Please do contact us to discuss any access requirements you have in advance, so we can provide facilities for you to take part.

Audio Practice Score *now available online

A drift and compositional exercise created by Simon to explore your locality, with an opportunity to share your reflections – writing, recordings, drawings.

This audio practice is complimentary to the workshop, but can also work as a standalone personal practice in your own time.

a drift in 3 movements

A drift is a way to move, carried by outside forces. Nondeterminate, the focus of this drift is to allow yourself to be guided by the elements that you encounter in your environment as you move through it, accompanied and altered by these river recordings made with prepared guitar on the Afon Dulais.

Let us know where the score leads you, where did you drift?
