Katye’s class is structured in solo, duet and group practices. Each set of instructions intends space and opportunity for the dancer to investigate form and technique through a series of anatomical, compositional and philosophical questions. The class moves between spacious layered time and more complex energetic patterns and forms across space.
Katye’s teaching draws on trainings and practices with, among others; Eva Karczag, Charlie Morrissey, Helen Poynor, Kirsty Alexander, Gill Clarke and Gaby Agis. Her technical offer draws on Lisa Nelson’s Tuning Scores, Skinner Releasing Technique, Contact Improvisation and Non Stylised Movement.
On Saturday, the class that Katye teaches precedes Groundswell in Cardiff. Katye will offer some work that might more specifically prepare the mind body for this way of moving into conversation. Saturdays class will be delivered at an open level, Thursday and Friday will more geared towards professional dancers.
