Matteo started training in ballet at the age of four and kept it as his core of training throughout his own career. Over the last seven years Matteo moved more towards contemporary work and see how could his ballet develop or change but still beneficial for a contemporary dancer. Apart from the basic technical ballet principles, his class focuses on how to use that ballet structure but still move with expansion in our body and in space and trying to get out of that box that ballet can make contemporary dancers feel. He has also found a way to bring back joy and fun to a ballet class by getting rid of the traditional piano music and use more unconventional one, which opened possibilities to use more extreme body dynamics and rhythms through exercises; increasing the tempo during the barre, to then keep the momentum going in the centre, whilst adding travelling and a more 360º body experience towards ballet.
